Dearne Valley

South Yorkshire Libraries Viewdata Information Association is made up of representatives from the 4 local authorities in South Yorkshire and enables sharing of data in viewdata systems, a joint approach to information providers and most notably resulted in a successful City Challenge bid. SYLVIA has been granted £278,000 to provide a viewdata information service to the Dearne Valley, an area of considerable deprivation cutting across the Bamsley, Doncaster and Rotherham local authority areas. Dearne Valley Information, as the service is known is being project managed by Doncaster and has its base in a Rotherham branch library, and will have around 20 public access terminals in centres of population and associated with other initiatives taking place under the City Challenge funded Deame Valley Partnership.
